Isolated Margin (a.k.a subaccounts)
Odyssey’s markets operate with isolated margin from each other. We've designed the system this way (as opposed to shared margin) to reduce the risk of contagion from market volatility. If a single market on Hook accrues bad debt from a situation like extreme volatility or a delayed oracle update, other markets aren’t impacted.
All traders have a primary account and then a margin account for each market. Each margin account holds its own balance and positions.
Traders will need to transfer testnet ETH from their Primary Account to start opening positions within a market.
Opening and Transferring WETH to a Margin Account
Traders can transfer funds into a subaccount to begin trading in a market by completing the following steps.
Select the market of interest in the top left-hand corner.
Click Transfer in the top right-hand corner.
Choose Primary Account in the ‘From’ Field.
Choose The Account for the market of interest in the ‘To’ Field.
Input a WETH amount.
Click Transfer.
Congrats! You have successfully opened up your first subaccount and can now begin trading in this market.
